The Haunted House was started in 1989 by a group of Fairmeadow parents. Originally built as a "Scary Hallway" in a corner of the multi-purpose room, the project expanded to include more creativity and complexity each year. Today, it includes a maze of hallways taking up the entire MP room and some adjacent outside areas, totaling approximately 3,600 square feet. The project is built entirely with volunteer help from our community, both past and current families. We have also enjoyed donations of supplies from local businesses. Funds from the PTA pay for a large portion of the event. The Haunt is staffed with our 5th graders as the primary actors but also enjoys the help of returning junior high and high school alumni students. In addition to the student actors, a core group of parents join in the fun as actors. For the past 3 years the Haunt has enjoyed the participation of the Gunn High School Robotics Team
